Here at SVBC we think mission is a core part of what the church is here for. This means that we have a view to mission not only on a local basis but also on a national and international level.

The Mission Shop

If you go into the centre of Ystradgynlais, chances are you’ll walk past our Mission Shop. Eleven years ago, SVBC took a temporary lease on the shop to raise money to send a group from the church out to Poland in order to run some short-term mission work out there.

One thing led to another, the shop became increasingly popular and successful and it is still going strong. In fact, it recently had a bit of a refit!

It is a charity shop that relies on donations from the public and is manned by volunteers from the church, all very ably managed by Debbie Lewis!

Regional Missions

In 2010 we held two tent missions over the summer, one in Ystradgynlais and one down in Pencoed.

This year we have increased that number to five, pitching our tent in Pencoed, Garnant, Pontardawe, Ystradgynlais and Ynyswen.

We believe we are called to go out into the local region and tell people about the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ. We typically run the mission from Wednesday through to Saturday, having evening meetings every day and having a free family fun day on the Saturday, complete with BBQ, bouncy castle and lot’s of fun and games!

Who knows what next year holds for us? We do know that it’ll be exciting!

National and International Mission

We also have a wider view of mission beyond the local region. As mentioned above we have links to Poland but we also have ties to work going on in Spain, USA, Romania and even reaching into other parts of Wales and the UK!
