HISTORY
Swansea Valley Bible Church was planted in 1991 by Peter and Lynne Yeoman. They returned to Wales from Okehampton, Devon to plant a church in the Swansea Valley under the auspices of the Assemblies of God Home Missions council. The first meeting took place in the "Bandroom" in Godrergraig, and God set His seal upon the work by two local ladies accepting Christ as their Saviour that day. Over the following months and years, SVBC moved around and met in different halls in the vicinity to accommodate the growing congregation.
In 1996, SVBC was impacted by the outpouring in Pensacola, Florida; The Brownsville Revival, and has since become closely linked with staff of the then 'Brownsville Revival School of Ministry'. SVBC made it a mandate to go after God 'for such a time as this'. In 1998, Swansea Valley Bible Church established their own building when they purchased a factory unit and renovated it as a place of worship. In 1999 and 2000, the church was led to invest in revival and redig the wells of old.
In 2000 the youth ministry Kingdom Ablaze was formed, a group of young adults with a heart for radical lifestyle in Jesus Christ and a vision for apostolic mission. This group eventually grew into what is now Europe Ablaze Missionary Society, which is currently involved in misson both abroad and on home-soil. The group made strong connections with a growing fellowship in northern Poland with which they maintain a healthy relationship as well as other fellowships across Europe and the UK. In 2006, Swansea Valley Bible Church, with the directing of leaders from within the church and like-hearted churches, founded Kingdom First Training Centre, a school of ministry for training young people to pursue the call of God. The school consists of renown spiritual leaders as staff willing to pour their lives and experience in to the students.
As of October 2008, it was decided, in following the will of God, to leave the affiliation with Assemblies of God denomination and partner with Ascension Fellowships International to come alongside churches with a similar vision. On 30th August 2009, during a special weekend of ministry, the 'baton was passed' as Andrew and Helen Yeoman were initiated into Senior Leadership and Peter and Lynne Yeoman were released, for a season, to further fulfill the evangelistic calling on their lives. They left for the USA in January 2010. and are now assisting Ascension Fellowships International with the planting and pioneering of new works within the USA in Pueblo, Colorado. Andrew and Helen in taking up the senior ministerial position are supported in leadership by the Elders of the church and wider group of departmental leaders.
Swansea Valley Bible Church has a heart for apostolic mission and an antiochal vision for the sending and releasing of saints into the purposes of God. Swansea Valley Bible Church has been utterly blessed since 1991 and has strengthened the work with strong leaders and members who love serving God and each other.
God has been faithful and SVBC can truly say that
"He who began a good work in them has been faithful to complete it".
